Step away from ordinary life for 4 mornings of creative writing and word play. Call upon memory and imagination to renew the spirit and discover poems, stories and narrative forms that are uniquely yours. Experiment with creative writing as a tool for inspiration and healing. Dates: Saturdays, June 19 & June 26 on the coast; Saturdays August 14 & August 21 in Ukiah. Workshops are from 10 a.m. - noon. These free workshops are open to people of all ages connected with the Cancer Resource Center, at any stage of their journey. This is an Arts for Our Future collaboration, co-sponsored by the Community Foundation of Mendocino County, the Mendocino Coast Writers Conference and the Cancer Resource Centers of Mendocino County. This project will lead to a community anthology of writing to be published in the Fall of 2010. Karen is a widely published poet, essayist and fiction writer. She's taught with California Poets in the Schools for the past 16 years, awakening imagination in the classroom. Her focus is on healing, nature, family ties, and translation of ordinary moments into art. She holds a BA from Stanford and an MFA from Antioch Los Angeles. |
