A powerful gift MCWC offers its participants is the sense of belonging to a community where we encourage and support each other. By becoming a Friend of MCWC, you can express that sense of community in ways that make a difference. You can:

• Nurture the next generation of writers by funding our Five Under Twenty-five scholarship program, which offers full-tuition scholarships to writers between the ages of 16 and 25 who live and/or go to school in any one of our five neighboring counties. Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, Mendocino, and Sonoma Counties are all rural and under-served in terms of opportunities for grant and scholarship funding.


• Encourage older writers of limited means by funding our Scholarship Grant program, which offers partial scholarships to writers from throughout the US whose stories need to be told, but for whom full tuition is unaffordable.


• Enhance the reputation of the Mendocino Coast as a community that supports the arts, including writing, by supporting programs such as writing workshops at a Cancer Resource Center, or a poetry slam geared toward at-risk youth.
