Faculty Words

Our Advisory Board has the following members:

Shirin Bridges is the founder and Head Goose of Goosebottom Books and the author of children's books which have won many awards.

Carolyn Cooke teaches in the Writing and Consciousness Program at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. She has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the California Arts Council.

Christie Olson Day is the owner of Gallery Bookshop located on the corner of Main and Kasten Streets in Mendocino.

Maureen Eppstein is a past executive director of the Mendocino Coast Writers Conference. She has published widely in both poetry and prose. Her most recent poetry collection is Earthward.

Tony Eppstein a former Mendocino Coast Writers Conference board member and president, managed the conference web site and printed materials for ten years.

Jody Gehrman teaches at Mendocino College in northern California. She is a novelist, playwright, and writer of fiction for young adults.

Charlotte Gullick was director of MCWC from 2006 through 2009. She is now Department Chair of the Creative Writing Department at Austin Community College, Austin, Texas.

Dorianne Laux serves on the faculty at North Carolina State University's MFA Program. Recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship in poetry along with a Guggenheim Fellowship and many other prizes, her most recent collection of poetry, her fifth, is THe Book of Men.

John Lescroart writes bestselling legal thrillers set in San Francisco that have been translated into 16 languages in more than 75 countries.

Catherine Marshall helps build strong, sustainable non-profits. She provides training, technical assistance, program design, and management services for such organizations.

Jill Myers has worked as a technical writer and editor, as a pre-school teacher, a school director, and, later at Stanford University in the rare books department and then as an assistant to the President′s wife. She moved to Anderson Valley in 1993 and was on the MCWC board from 1997 until 2015.

Valerie Miner is the award-winning author of thirteen books. Winner of a Distinguished Teaching Award, with over twenty-five years college faculty experience, she now teaches at Stanford University.

Gary Snyder, acclaimed poet, essayist, visionary, and environmental activist, is the author of 18 books. He is professor emeritus at the University of California at Davis.

The Advisory Board's role is to help us grow the caliber of what we offer our participants and show the larger literary community the importance of writing deeply into the issues of our world.

Our Advisory Board helps maintain the essence of what makes the Mendocino Coast Writers Conference unique, a down-to-earth atmosphere coupled with superb teaching.
