Katherine Brown

Katherine Brown was a co-owner of an international produce company with over $20M in annual sales, where her duties included full charge bookkeeping, marketing, sales, air, ocean, train and truck transit, human resources, and office management. She has worked in small businesses in various capacties since 1975, including as a former conference coordinator for the Hilton Hotels in the mid 1980s. She received a B.A. in English from Mills College, 2001 and a M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Fairleigh Dickinson University, 2005. While an undergraduate she served as an editor of a literary journal. She was also the first prize winner in the novel category for the Mendocino Coast Writers Conference in 2005. Her essays, short stories, and poems have appeared in journals and newspapers. Presently, she teaches Creative Writing and English at College of the Redwoods, Fort Bragg.


Maureen Eppstein

Maureen Eppstein's writing career has ranged widely. She has worked as a journalist, and for twenty years wrote and edited administrative documents at Stanford University. She has published fiction for both adults and children, as well as two recent poetry collections, Quickening and Rogue Wave at Glass Beach. Her poetry has won many awards and has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize. She is currently working on a memoir about being an expatriate New Zealander. She teaches a class on Poetry Writing at the College of the Redwoods, Fort Bragg.

For ten years, Maureen helped organize the monthly Waverley Writers poetry readings in Palo Alto, CA. She served on MCWC's planning committee for five years, and was interim co-director in 2005.
